"A Beautiful Weekend On The Lake"

The weather here in Northern Arkansas is starting to cool down, after a horrid streak of days over 100 Degrees. One day here on our thermometer, we showed 112 in the shade. Kath and I don't recall being in temps so high in our lives up till now. That combined with the normal high humidity was really tough to handle. Thankful to have an air conditioner that works really well. I can't imagine what it would have been like trying to live through it without it.
Kath is enjoying the annual arrival of butterflies here in our backyard. They love this butterfly bush she planted the first year we were here. Last year she cut it way back, and she thinks that might be why there are way less blossoms on it this summer. But as you can see, she got some really pretty pictures of them.
We have been watching for some good days to begin again on the river. The generation has been running pretty steady at 8 generators and that is so fast and high that fishing it is far from an enjoyable experience. You can have a real nice ride on the river. The high water makes it possible to go just about anywhere on the river without worrying about hitting rocks as you can when the water is low. That is what we ended up doing the last time we went on it and we did enjoy that. We traveled about 6 miles south of where we put the boat in. It was a beautiful ride down and back. The fishing was a "bust" though! Very abnormal for us to go without even a bite.
Saturday night, we headed out on the lake, had a nice time in the water and as the sun set Kath got some night driving in before we headed in for the night(see the moon in the background). We got a ride back to the marina to then be held up as the local police, sheriff, State patrol and a police car from Flippen had the road blocked while they searched with flashlights for someone who had evaded them. Interesting!
Sunday morning I checked the river report. No good, so we headed to the lake for pure relaxation.
We headed northwest probably 5 miles to a beautiful area lots of coves to go into. The shoreline is starting to change back to normal as the lake level recedes. We cruised around really slow and saw 3 deer in different areas. They are so peaceful, all we do is approach at an idle and they just watch us real close.
But the weekend is over now, back to reality
Till the next time
Bob and Kathy
