This weekend is one Kath and I will certainly remember for the rest of our lives.
Rob had planned a trip months ago, to get away and come down to fish with us and just get away from working for 4 days. Unfortunately, 2 days are spent driving back and forth. But the two days we had, we had perfect weather, perfect flow of water on the river, and there were lots of fish!
Saturday we fished for close to 5 hours, yielding around 10 fish. They were all of good size, and we had a great time, visiting and fishing.
Sunday was the day we all will remember. We started off with Rob at the helm on the lake. We wanted to have breakfast out on the lake for him. It was really good tasting I must say. We have to serve one person at a time, and with it being cooler, you have to dig right in or it will be cold! But that is part of the fun of it I guess! We stayed out till abit past noon, then had Rob bring her back into the slip. For his first shot at it, he did really good. Docking the boat is a rather "tight fit" to say the least.
We came back home, dropped the dogs off and headed for our last afternoon together on the river. We put the boat in around 1pm, fished till 5pm. In that time a "Contest" began!
The rules were simple, only one rule to remember........"the fish had to get into the boat".
So off we went. I caught maybe 4or 5. But Rob and his Mom were just tearing it up. So I jumped out of the competition, spent the rest of the time watching them have quite the time, and mending fishing lines. We had stumbled into an area where they were hitting on shrimp. So I would go back up river maybe 1/4 mile everytime we got to far away from the "hot spot". They both caught a 14" trout each. But the end result was Mom 22, Rob 14. Each of them probably caught 5 or so each that never quite made it over the edge into the boat. One exciting moment we will all remember was the trout that Rob skidded across the bows deck, only to fly off the otherside never to be seen again. But as Rob shouted back to us," it was in the boat, it counts"!! ha ha
New rules were set for the next contest already. We don't count the number of fish caught, it will be "the length of the fish" that only matters. That is the only rule now.
These are the days we all will remember.
Looks like you've got some competition for that job as a Baldkanobber!
