"July "

Another very "Hot" July here in the Ozarks! Last night we went out on the lake for a short ride. The humidity was really high, stifling.

We moved our boat to a different slip on the same dock. We were next to a man who kept hitting ours as he would come in. The side was getting beat up pretty bad. He never offered any restitution to us, just made sure we knew it was he who hit it! So we thought it was time to move to another. There is a boat lift that is in the slip where we are now. It is owned by a doctor, and seldom has the boat in it. So hopefully we will be a bit safer there!

Two of our grandchildren were down this last week. They had a good time learning to wake board. Even their dad gave it a go. He said his back was pretty sore the next day, and that he was done trying to act like a teenager.

We continue to water our new grass we have going, hoping it gets established well, so it will survive the winter. Kath's flowers are holding on pretty good. She has lost a few but there is hope, they being perennials might come back next year, despite appearing they have died off. All in all, considering the drought we are going through, our plants are hanging in there.

My nightly trip to work, has been once again filled with deer and their fawns. This started about a week ago. For quite a long spell, one could drive in and not see any. So my assumption is the lack of food back in the forested areas has been depleted, forcing them to come out to the roadsides. I have had two close calls in the past two weeks. So that adds entertainment to my drive in!

We have been enjoying our annual visit of hummingbirds. They are so enjoyable to watch.......flying back and forth to Kath's butterfly bush, and back to the hummingbird feeder. They get very comfortable with us sitting out near the feeders, and come so close to us, as if they stop right in front to say "hello"! One day after being in the water out on the lake,  we were joined by a hummer that stopped right in front of Kath's face.  Suspended in mid air, it looked right and left at her.........then took off. Beautiful tiny birds. They fly so close you hear the "hum" very clearly. And when they sit long enough at the feeders, they have a very quiet "peep" you can hear. Last week Kath saw an Indigo Bunting down on the river, what a beautiful bird they are. Such a pretty blue. They are seldom seen, but she got a nice picture of one.

Well that is about it for now,
Take care
Bob and Kath
